Rodgers & Hammerstein's first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative, having set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre still being followed today. Set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. Although the road to true love never runs smooth, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love's journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road, complicated by Jud Fry - Laurey's handyman. That they will succeed in making a new life together we have no doubt, and that this new life will begin in a brand-new state provides the ultimate climax to the triumphant OKLAHOMA! Songs include Oklahoma!, With Me It's All Or Nothin', Surrey With A Fringe on Top, Pore Jud is Daid, Everything's Up to Date in Kansas City, I Cain't Say No, The Farmer and The Cowman, and many more! Lots of Dancing, Singing and superb Acting! Ballet dancers needed..
Audition Materials will be here on-line and at the
Winnetka Community House for a fee on December 1st, 2011
CASTING: The Spring Play will have a single cast with some possible double casting based on merit. REHEARSALS will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 6 and Saturdays from 9 to 1.
Absences are not allowed except for extreme circumstances.
There is a Production Fee of $350. Scholarships are, however, available.
Students in grades 4 through 8 at public and private schools in New Trier Township may audition.
Please bring a completed Audition Form and Permission slip with a recent photo to Auditions
Audition materials will be on this site or at the Winnetka Community House for a fee by December 1st.
