About Stage Crew
All children grades 4-12 who reside or attend school in New Trier Township are invited to apply for Stage and Prop Crew for our shows.
Stage Crew is an incredible experience where the child plays a crucial role in the production. The three weeks are rigorous and immensely rewarding as the child takes on responsibilities he/she can handle, working with experienced stage managers, alongside people of all ages. The child learns a lot and also has loads of fun. Many children return, season after season, to work on Stage Crew. Many children have moved over to the performance end, auditioning and being cast in the shows!
Auditions Week: Crew Application Form is available online or at the Registration Desk. Applications are accepted during this time.
Second Week of Rehearsals: Applicant will be notified if they are invited to join Stage Crew.
Third Week of Rehearsals (approx.): Mandatory parent and crew meeting where the Stage Manager and Producers will answer any questions you have and outline the schedule and expectations. Stage Crew will be divided into two groups, each group working with an assigned cast.
Prior to Set-In: If time allows, Stage Crew is invited to a rehearsal to watch/learn the show from the audience.
Set-In: Stage Crew participation really gets going as soon as the set moves onto the stage – approximately 2-4 weeks before the show. Once the set is on the stage, crew will learn to move set pieces, work with the props and the cast. Rehearsals are generally Tuesday and Thursday, either 4pm -6pm or 6pm - 8pm depending on cast assignment, and on Saturday, either 9am - 11am or 11am - 1pm depending on cast assignment. Rehearsals prior to Tech are essential, but exceptions for prior commitments have been made depending on the show and how much time the crew has to work with the set.
Tech/Dress/Show Week: Tech Rehearsal (Saturday or Sunday prior to opening night), Dress Rehearsal (Tuesday or Wednesday before opening night), and ALL assigned shows are mandatory.
