50 YEARS I 100 SHOWS
COUNTLESS MEMORIES
CTW celebrated its 50th anniversary in the Spring of 2024 with a Retrospective Show and Gala at the Winnetka Community House.
Hosted by Meg Weldon, daughter of Barbara Weldon, a founder of CTW, the evening featured a look back at our fifty years of shows, costumes and casts. Performances by notable alumni and recent graduates, as well as, a lively reception and auction made the night one to remember. Thank you to Meg and everyone who has supported our program since its inception in 1974.

OUR HISTORY
CTW was founded by Barbara Weldon and Lu Sunkel, two Winnetka women who wanted a serious theatre program for their children, much like those available in youth sports. Their vision: to teach and involve children in multiple aspects of theatre - acting, singing, dancing and stage production.
A Christmas Carol, was CTW's first performance, selling out both shows with seats costing $1.
Since then, CTW shows have evolved from fairy tales like Rumplestiltskin to Broadway shows like SpongeBob the Musical.
Show production has become more sophisticated, from digital backdrops to Peter Pan actually 'flying' and a full scale stage rainstorm during Singin' in the Rain.
